York County officials have lifted the boil water advisory that was issued following a water main break over the weekend, allowing residents to use tap water safely as of 5 p.m. Wednesday. Water tests confirmed that the supply is free of contaminants.
According to the York County, the break occurred Saturday night last week when an old pipe ruptured due to shifting rock and sediment. Utility crews worked extended hours to repair the leak and reinforce the water main.
York County officials thanked residents for their patience and noted that the break was caused by natural factors. Measures to prevent future incidents may be considered.
