Boston locals can expect a resurgence of summer-like warmth this week with highs reaching into the mid 80s, bringing an escalation in humidity and a chance for showers and thunderstorms over the weekend. According to the National Weather Service, today will remain mostly sunny, boasting a high near 85 degrees and gusts reaching up to 28 mph.
The clearer skies are slated for tonight, with thermometers resting at around 68 degrees. The weekend outlook, though, intensifies as Saturday heats up close to 87 degrees with a 20% chance for showers and thunderstorms post-1pm. These conditions may escalate by nightfall, bringing an 80% chance of precipitation and potentially heavy rainfall amounts in thunderstorms.
According to NBC Boston's latest report, "Our best chance of a passing shower is early this morning," meaning early risers might catch damp streets before the sun rises high. The weekend could see some tumult in the skies, especially "along and west/north of Interstate 495" where severe storm conditions are a possibility, though chances of tornadoes are minimal and isolated to the strongest of storms.
As Sunday dawns, showers likely will persist mainly before 9am with patchy fog expected to clear by mid-morning. The front ushers in cooler temperatures, tagging an end to the lingering heat. Any hope for clearing skies may align with the Patriot's game as conditions are predicted to improve later in the afternoon. Despite seeming abundant, the forecasted rainfall is merely "a drop in the bucket in terms of our big rain deficit," says NBC Boston, anticipating no more than half an inch of rain.
The following week stabilizes as the thermometer settles around the low 70s during the day, offering a respite from recent humidity. Monday greets with sunny skies and a climb to 75 degrees, while the nights cool down comfortably into the lower 50s. The trend of clear skies and mild days continues well into the week, providing Boston with a spell of dry and stable weather.
