Stockton was stirred by an act of bravery that took a violent turn early Wednesday morning. Two 26-year-old men were stabbed after encountering a burglary suspect within a residence on the 1400 block of West Euclid Avenue, as reported by the Stockton Police Department. The incident, which occurred around 2 a.m., led to the arrest of the alleged assailant, 34-year-old Jordan Chavez.
According to ABC10, the victims were attempting to prevent Chavez from escaping the scene when he allegedly stabbed them both. The confrontation unfolded in the Valley Oak District, an area which now has to reckon with this surge of violence.
Chavez reportedly attempted to flee but was later apprehended by law enforcement. He now faces multiple charges including assault with a deadly weapon, burglary, theft, and possession of stolen property.
The two victims were swiftly taken to a local hospital and treated for injuries that weren’t threatening to their lives, as reported by FOX40. The Stockton Police Department is continuing to investigate the circumstances that led to the stabbing.
