Breads Bakery, renowned for its indulgent chocolate babka, is set to sweeten up Williamsburg with a new storefront. A spokesperson confirmed to Eater that the revered New York bakery has secured a lease at 470 Kent Avenue as part of the Williamsburg Wharf development, which is also home to a yet-to-be-named restaurant by chef Eyal Shani.

Embedding itself in the 3.75-acre waterfront project, Breads Bakery will be in good company, surrounded by five residential towers boasting a total of 950 residences. The leasing deal, which occupies 4,700 square feet of space, marks the bakery's second venture into Brooklyn, following the success of its Brooklyn Bridge Park location earlier this year. According to the same Eater report, Breads Bakery's new setup will feature an open kitchen, providing customers the opportunity to observe the culinary magic unfold, plus exclusive items will be made just for the Brooklyn clientele.

Over in Manhattan, Breads Bakery continues its presence with outposts in various bustling spots, including Union Square and Rockefeller Center. The Williamsburg location, expected to open in 2026, was eagerly announced by the Naftali Group, as relayed by Commercial Observer. Miki Naftali, chairman and CEO of Naftali Group, highlighted the addition of Breads Bakery as a significant addition to both the development and the local community.

"Welcoming Breads Bakery as our latest retail tenant at Williamsburg Wharf is an exciting milestone for the project," Naftali stated in the announcement obtained by Commercial Observer. Their future neighbors will surely appreciate the venture into new community by the bakery, anchored by the excellence for which Breads Bakery is renowned. Meanwhile, specific details on the lease's terms and financial aspects have not been disclosed to the public as of yet.

The retail strategy for Williamsburg Wharf has been managed by Friend of Chef, an advisory firm specializing in the hospitality sector. The company was identified as handling the bakery's retail leasing efforts but did not immediately respond to requests for comments from the Commercial Observer. Breads Bakery co-founder Gadi Peleg expressed enthusiasm about the move, echoing the sentiment of integration and sharing the bakery's beloved offerings with the Williamsburg crowd. "We're so excited to share our love with the neighborhood and be part of what Naftali Group is building along one of the city’s most spectacular waterfront," Peleg told the Commercial Observer.
