After six years of painstaking investigation, a major break has come in the unresolved case of a teenage girl's tragic death in St. Louis. The homicide of 16-year-old Kristina Curry, who was found shot to death back in May of 2019, has led to the arrest of a suspect, a 26-year-old man, as St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department (SLMPD) announced on Monday.
According to the details released by the SLMPD, Curry's body was discovered in the 3200 block of Hartford after a distress call to police. Subsequent scrutiny into telephone records drew a direct line to the suspect — then a 20-year-old youth — establishing him as the last individual to have contact with the victim prior to her untimely demise. Revelations also surfaced that Curry might have been carrying the suspect's child, a fact that could have precipitated the events leading to her death.
In a persistent effort that spanned over half a decade, Homicide Detectives remained committed to bringing closure to a case that had grown cold, ultimately succeeding when they cuffed the now 26-year-old suspect. The suspect, who's identity has not been disclosed, is currently detained and held without bond, awaiting the proceeding of justice.
