In the early hours in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn, a 26-year-old man driving a Honda Accord was involved in a collision with an MTA bus at the intersection of Ridge Boulevard and Bay Ridge Avenue. As reported by ABC7NY, the southbound sedan struck the westbound B64 MTA bus, an event which forcibly sent the bus veering onto a curb and subsequently into the side of an apartment building.
Immediately following the collision, which reportedly happened just past 1:30 a.m., the driver of the Honda was transported to NYU Langone Hospital–Brooklyn to quickly be treated for what have been described as minor injuries. The bus driver was not injured, and no passengers were on board at the time of the incident. Nearby residents were also unharmed, as per Brooklyn News12.
While the building sustained the majority of the damage from the bus crash, the incident has triggered an investigation into the circumstances surrounding it. Authorities are continuing to examine the events leading up to the collision and have not yet released any potential determinations.
