A grim report surfaced this week in Canton Township, where a 30-year-old man has been charged with the murder of his wife. According to ClickOnDetroit, Michael Shen faces charges of first-degree murder after allegedly strangling 30-year-old Yu Zhao to death in their home.
Law enforcement responded to a distress call at the Pinehurst Drive residence in the early hours of Monday, Sept. 8, where Zhao was found unresponsive. Despite the efforts of first responders, Zhao was later pronounced dead at a hospital. The same source reports, Shen was believed to have killed his wife around 1 a.m. that day, and authorities promptly took him into custody, as reported by ClickOnDetroit.
The case took a critical turn on Thursday, Sept. 11, when Shen was formally charged and denied bond.
