
A tragic event occurred in Canton Township yesterday, where police found a 30-year-old woman dead inside her home from an apparent domestic assault. As per the information obtained from ClickOnDetroit, the Canton Township officers responded to a call regarding a woman who was not breathing. It was around 3:32 p.m. when they discovered the victim on Pinehurst Drive near Cherry Hill and Canton Center roads.
The Detroit News stated that a suspect is in custody, and there's not an ongoing threat to the public. Details about the suspect and the victim have not been released to the public, with the victim's identity being held back until the family notification. The Canton Public Safety Department has yet to name the suspect involved in the incident classified as a homicide.
Local non-profit organization HAVEN, focused on helping victims of domestic violence, highlighted the pervasive nature of such violence. She further underlined the gravity of the situation, indicating that "it's estimated that one in four people across the country has experienced abuse from an intimate partner."
