An unexpected crash disrupted the calm of a Shaler Township shopping center last Saturday evening when a car barreled into the Dollar Tree store. Just before 9:30 p.m., first responders rushed to the 1700 block of Mt. Royal Boulevard following a report that a vehicle had collided with the storefront, WTAE reported. The impact sent glass scattering, shelves tumbling, and left a scene of disarray as a black SUV with front-end damage waited to be towed away.
The quiet night was broken by the crash, and the serious part was that two people were inside the store — a clerk who had minor injuries, and a driver who passed a sobriety test, showing they weren’t drunk. The police are treating the incident as an accident, but the immediacy of concern was writ large across the 15 to 20 feet the car came to a rest, stranded deep within the retail space, WPXI reported.
Despite the dramatic scene and the risk of more serious injuries, no hospitalizations were reported.
