A high-speed chase through the streets of Ceres ended in the recovery of a stolen vehicle and seizure of firearms, with one suspect now behind bars. The incident unfolded yesterday morning, as Ceres Police Department officers were led on a pursuit that culminated in a strategic, collaborative capture.

As reported by the Ceres Police Department, it began when Officer Lord-Huff responded to an alert about a stolen green 1993 Honda Accord. The vehicle, spotted racing along city roads, failed to immediately comply with an attempt by Officer Lord-Huff to conduct a traffic stop. Instead, it led to a chase during which the occupants were seen to brazenly throw two guns from the car. These firearms were swiftly recovered by backup officers.

The chase ended as quickly as it began, with the suspect making a last-ditch turn into a cul-de-sac and opting to flee on foot. The passenger, however, stayed put and was promptly detained. Police set up a perimeter with help from the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Air Unit and patrol deputies, launching a meticulous yard-by-yard search.

The search, intensified by the participation of K-9 Onyx and a coordinated contact team, was successful in locating the fleeing driver. The operation seamlessly transitioned to bring the escapading suspect into custody without further difficulty. Describing their effort, the Ceres Police Department stated on their Facebook page, "This incident highlights the exceptional coordination, professionalism, and dedication of our officers and allied agencies in working tirelessly to keep our community safe."
