The City of Chandler has launched its annual Creative Expression Competition, inviting local students to showcase their artistic talents under this year's theme, "Rooted in Hope: 250 Years of Dreams, Journeys and New Beginnings." According to a news release from the City of Chandler, students residing or attending school in Chandler, from kindergarten to the 12th grade, are eligible to participate by submitting original visual or written works.
The competition, which is hosted by the Chandler Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Division, is accepting submissions until 5 p.m. on Nov. 3. The guidelines for submissions, as well as the judging criteria, are outlined on the Creative Expression page of the city's website. Submitted essays or visual art pieces must be accompanied by an entry form, available at any of the drop-off locations across Chandler Public Library branches including Basha Library, Downtown Library, Hamilton Library, and Sunset Library.
Adrianna Erickson from the city's Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Division is the contact person for more details about the competition. The city has seen thousands of students participate in this contest over the last two decades, underscoring the community's commitment to fostering a diverse range of voices and talents. For more information on the Creative Expression Competition, individuals can contact Erickson directly at 480-782-2224.
All entries submitted for the competition will be on display at Chandler Public Libraries during December. The winners, recognized for their creative contributions, will be honored on stage at the 31st annual Chandler Multicultural Festival on Jan. 17, 2026. Betsy Lizer, Public Information Officer for the City of Chandler, is the media contact for any inquiries regarding the competition.
