
Residents in Charlotte, North Carolina, and nearby areas are being advised of potential hazardous weather conditions today as a cold front brings scattered to numerous thunderstorms. The forecast includes a 30% chance of showers and thunderstorms after 4 p.m., with mostly sunny skies and a high near 90 degrees before conditions change. Winds are expected to shift from south-southwest to west-southwest at 5 to 9 mph, with rainfall amounts between a tenth and a quarter of an inch and possibly higher in thunderstorms, according to the National Weather Service.
The National Weather Service has issued a hazardous weather outlook warning of frequent cloud-to-ground lightning and heavy rainfall. There is also a chance of isolated severe storms this afternoon across the Piedmont area that could bring brief damaging wind gusts and isolated large hail. Tonight’s forecast calls for a low around 67 degrees with patchy fog developing before and after a brief clearing around 3 a.m., and a continued 30% chance of precipitation.
From Sunday through Friday, no hazardous weather is expected. Sunday will bring a slight chance of showers, partly sunny skies, and a high near 78, followed by mostly sunny days and mild temperatures in the low 80s with partly cloudy evenings.
