Boaters in the South Gulf Cove area should expect temporary closures of the South Gulf Cove Lock between Tuesday next week and October 3. Charlotte County announced that Creative Marine Construction will perform maintenance work on the lock system. The lock will be closed from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. and again from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m., Tuesday through Friday each week.

During times when marine crews are not working, the lock tender will manually operate the lock to allow vessels to pass. Manual operation will also be available after hours to keep nightly water traffic moving.

For more details, inquiries can be sent to Mike Krise at [email protected]. Regular updates and alerts are expected as the maintenance period approaches, and boaters are encouraged to plan ahead to accommodate these temporary changes.
