
A tragic incident in Charlotte has prompted a homicide investigation following an early morning shooting. Today, at around 1:42 a.m., officers received a call about an Assault with a Deadly Weapon with Injury on the 5600 block of Albemarle Road. The response team found two individuals suffering from gunshot wounds, as reported by the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department.
Working through the night, the CMPD's Homicide Unit and Crime Scene Search were dispatched to the scene, gathering evidence while the Charlotte Fire Department and MEDIC provided necessary assistance. On arrival, the officers were faced with the grim reality of violence, where one victim, later in the local hospital, had their life claimed by the bullet wounds inflicted. Having been transported with critical injuries, the second victim's condition currently hangs in balance, with the community's hopes tethered to their recovery.
The CMPD has confirmed the investigation is “active and ongoing” and declares that any relevant updates will be duly communicated through their Public Affairs Office.
