Early this morning, a shooting in Charlotte’s Central Division left one person dead. According to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department, off-duty officers heard gunfire at about 12:42 a.m. near the 200 block of N. Caldwell Street. The victim, whose identity has not been released, was found with fatal gunshot wounds and pronounced dead at the scene.
CMPD’s Homicide Unit is investigating the incident, supported by the Charlotte Fire Department and MEDIC. Detective James is leading the case, and the Crime Scene Search team has been collecting physical evidence at the scene.
