Chaos erupted in the 7400 block of Grier Road when North Tryon Division officers responded to a "Shooting into an Occupied Dwelling" call on September 15. The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department disclosed via a social media post that, subsequent to the shooting incident, a juvenile with gunshot wounds was dropped off at a local hospital by a suspect in a silver Nissan Altima.
The suspect vehicle, having departed from the hospital, was later involved in a crash near East W. T. Harris Boulevard and Chancellor Park Drive. Not only did the officers locate the crashed vehicle, but they also apprehended three suspects at the scene while one of them was observed disposing of firearms into a nearby wooded location. The silver Nissan Altima, it turned out, was reported stolen. In the aftermath, officers confiscated a total of five firearms, one of which had also been reported stolen.
Luis Hernandez-Mendez, 18, and Ilan Nolasco-Resendiz, 22, face a slew of charges, including "Shooting into an Occupied Dwelling," various assault and weapons charges, and "Contributing to the Delinquency of Minors." Similarly charged are two 16-year-old juveniles, who are being prosecuted as adults, encompassing charges for "Shooting into an Occupied Dwelling," "Assault with a Deadly Weapon with Intent to Kill," and "Possession of a Stolen Firearm," among others. In conjunction with the aforementioned offenses, one of the juveniles faces additional charges, including "Possession of a Stolen Vehicle," as per the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department.
The MEDIC transported the juvenile along with the two adults for injuries sustained from the crash. Once the juvenile suspect was released from the hospital, they were taken into custody facing the previously mentioned charges.
