The Chatham Community Library is set to offer free computer classes over the next two months, aiming to empower residents with technology skills in an increasingly digital world. For those looking to enhance their computer literacy or refine their tech abilities, the library's lineup includes sessions suitable for different levels of proficiency. While registration is essential for most classes, the library has also set aside time for drop-in tech assistance, no sign-up required.
Interested individuals can take advantage of one-on-one tech help without needing to register, simply by visiting the library during the scheduled drop-in windows. According to Chatham County's announcement published last Friday, the drop-in assistance sessions will be held on the second Thursday of both September and October from 3:00 to 4:30 p.m. Anyone with computer and technology queries can benefit from these sessions, and given that no advance registration is required, the opportunity opens doors for spontaneous learning.
The Beginner's Computer Basics class, occurring in two parts, promises to demystify the fundamentals of computing. Scheduled on subsequent Thursdays in September, these classes will introduce participants to crucial first interactions with a computer, from handling a mouse and keyboard to understanding file organization and routine maintenance.
For those aiming to enhance their digital presentation skills, a two-part Microsoft PowerPoint Basics series is on offer in October. Covering a range of functionalities – including the incorporation of multimedia elements and mastering visual transitions – the library aims to equip individuals with the practical know-how needed for creating captivating presentations. Participants should have a basic familiarity with PowerPoint before joining, ensuring everyone can keep up with the curriculum.
All classes and drop-in sessions will take place at Chatham Community Library, located at 197 NC Hwy 87 N., Pittsboro, 27312. Prospective attendees are encouraged to secure their spot by registering through the library's website or calling 919-545-8086 for more details.
