Chatham County has been recognized for its workplace safety efforts. Several county departments received the 2024 Annual Safety Awards from the North Carolina Department of Labor. The awards highlight the county’s work in reducing hazards and maintaining employee safety, according to the county announcement.
The awarded departments are those that have significantly reduced accidents and consistently worked to improve safety for employees serving the public. Notably, Chatham County Buildings & Grounds, Health, Recreation, and Waste Management have received gold awards multiple times, with some earning recognition for the fifth, seventh, and twelfth time.
The Sheriff/Jail and Telecommunications departments have received awards for the third consecutive year, reflecting ongoing efforts to improve safety in those areas. The Social Services, Tax, and Library departments have also been recognized multiple times.
