According to the alert, the incidents took place between September 21 and 24, with offenders donned in black hooded sweatshirts and ski masks, smashing front windows or doors to gain entry into businesses. With six thefts reported over four days, area stores were stripped of merchandise and ATMs, leaving owners grappling with loss and uncertainty. In one instance, two incidents on the same block of N. California in Logan Square, hitting the 2300 block twice in mere days.

The Chicago Police Department's description of the perpetrators points to a group of 1-5 individuals, appearing to be between the ages of 15 and 25 years old. As a response to these break-ins, the police are urging local businesses to maintain well-lit perimeters, promptly repair any security breaches, and secure copies of video surveillance footage. The series of burglaries started with an event in the 4300 block of S. Talman from 7:30 p.m. to 5 a.m. on September 21-22 and continued with several more incidents, including two on S. Archer Avenue in the Brighton Park area.

Shop owners are not only encouraged to report any suspicious activity immediately but are also reminded, "If you are a victim, do not touch anything. Call police immediately," as highlighted in the police notice. They are to seek witness information proactively, ensuring they can help police construct a more detailed account of the incident. The police, who have emphasized community vigilance, moving around in the shadow of these burglaries, are also instructing businesses to maintain their video surveillance systems and give a copy to detectives in the event of a crime. Anyone with information on the burglaries is expected to come forward to aid in apprehending those responsible for these calculated heists.
