Yesterday in northern Contra Costa County, the California Highway Patrol's H-30 helicopter was dispatched to respond to a rescue operation on the Madrone Trail, close to Alamo.

According to a social media post from CHP Golden Gate Division Air Operations, the CHP H-30 had just completed another call when they were alerted to the situation by the San Ramon Valley Fire Protection District.

The helicopter crew was informed that a hiker had been injured on the single-track trail and required immediate extraction. Fire personnel on the scene discerned that the injury necessitated extrication by air. Thus, a Helicopter Rescue Technician (HRT) was requisitioned. First, CHP H-30 made a rapid detour to Station 34 in San Ramon to retrieve the specialist before returning to execute the hoist operation. The injured party was then transferred to a waiting ambulance for medical treatment.
