On Thursday, the CHP Golden Gate Division Air Operations was dispatched to extract an injured electric dirt bike rider who had collided with a tree and sustained serious injuries. The rider found themselves in a precarious situation, approximately 100 feet down an embankment where traditional vehicles couldn't reach.
The CHP helicopter, designated H-14, quickly mobilized from Benton to join the efforts of ground medics and CHP units that were struggling to access the victim. Having located a suitable clearing for landing near the accident scene, the helicopter crew prepared for a hoist rescue mission. Not accessible by vehicle, the rider's location required a precision operation. With deft coordination, a rescuer was lowered to the ground units via the hoist mechanism, aiding in preparing the injured rider for extraction, as detailed in a CHP social media post.
Once stabilized, the victim was securely hoisted to H-14 and transported to an awaiting ambulance.
