Clark County Commissioner Tick Segerblom and the Department of Public Works have marked the beginning of a new project that aims to bring significant improvements to the east side of the Valley. The project, valued at $13.9 million, will see the construction of a paved road and bridge over the Las Vegas Wash, linking Sloan Lane from Vegas Valley Drive to Ruby Creek Drive. In a statement made by Clark County's official news release, Segerblom highlighted the importance of the project by saying, "This bridge is more than infrastructure; it builds connection and access for our community."
Along with the bridge, the infrastructure work will encompass a range of improvements, including a median and sidewalk, as well as curb and gutter installations. Streetlights, traffic signals, and essential utility adjustments are also part of the plan, aiming to increase safety and accessibility on this section of the road. The official Clark County news release notes that regular working hours to extend Sloan Lane are set for Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., and from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. near the intersection of Sahara Avenue and Sloan due to increased traffic flow.
The construction project is designed to improve connectivity in the area, creating enhanced access to schools and businesses. With increasing numbers of residents relying on this corridor for daily travel, the prospect of a smoother commute is a welcome development. Planned improvements include the installation of modern streetlights and a new traffic signal to address the needs of the growing east side community. The project is scheduled for completion in winter 2026, at which point the temporary disruptions will give way to long-term infrastructure benefits.
