The Clayton Police Department has had a busy couple of weeks, responding to a myriad of incidents ranging from vehicle crashes to property damage and disturbances, according to their latest report. Highlighting the two-week stretch between September 8 and 21 were calls that included 31 vehicle crashes and 125 assistance actions to other agencies.

As reported by the Clayton Police Department, in one notable event, a medical emergency caused a driver to crash into a concrete median on Forest Park Parkway, the Officers responded with haste aiding the dazed individual and processing the scene, on another occasion, police nabbed a woman who had driven the wrong way through a parking garage earlier in the year and had later threatened to blame her ex-boyfriend for the crime, her attempts to pin the incident on her former partner and harass him on multiple fronts was thwarted by officer diligence and surveillance video confirming her sole involvement. Her litany of offenses including first-degree property damage and harassment brought a judge to set a hefty $125,000 bond.

Further incidents involved a man arrested for trespassing at a Chipotle, a subsequent arrest of the same individual at a different location after he took on a fighting stance, and a man booked for a DUI on Brentwood Boulevard following a discovery of a suspended driver's license and several outstanding warrants, his day in court now pending through the Clayton Municipal Court. The charge list extended to a couple arrested for barging into a business suite over an alleged infidelity, and a man disclosing his meth possession to officers who asked if he had anything concealed, a seriously misguided case of honesty resulting in an arrest.

Officers on the scene also investigated a stream of crashes, one involving a rear-end collision that fortunately left the drivers unscathed, another precipitated by a driver’s traffic lane confusion leading to a hit-and-run, a third saw a shuttle bus driver inadvertently strike a light pole and drive off, incorrectly judging the maneuver as a near miss, and yet another involved a DWI where a man struck multiple vehicles before EMS had to be called as he fell unconscious at the scene, culminating in his arrest after recovering at a local hospital.

And to round off an eventful period, a woman walked into trouble when she was arrested for trespassing at the Clayton Fire Department, followed by another incident where the CPD were alerted to a felony wanted woman for burglary and possession of stolen firearms, swiftly capturing her at a local business. Theft proved to be popular during this spell, with a report of a woman losing her purse which later led to an attempted unauthorized transaction and a case of CVS pilfering by a man who couldn't evade the long arm of the law for long, the officers connecting previous theft convictions to this repeat offender, and another vehicle break-in added to the tally, said crime spree ended with an arrest of an individual who had just been released from the county jail, tying a neat bow on what was an undoubtedly hectic fortnight for the Clayton PD.
