The Sheriff's Office took to social media to detail the incident which involved Terry Evans, a man now facing charges for driving the wrong way, possession with intent to distribute drugs, and firearm offenses. According to a Facebook post by the Cleveland County Sheriff's Office, the interception of Evans' vehicle occurred around 12:30 a.m. on Shields Boulevard when deputies noticed it was heading north in the southbound lanes.

The deputies initiated a traffic stop which revealed more than just traffic infractions. Discovered in Evans' possession were drugs, ostensibly prepared for distribution, alongside drug paraphernalia, a loaded pistol, and a substantial cache of ammunition—over 140 rounds of .40 caliber. The Facebook post from the Cleveland County Sheriff's Office declared, "What began as a routine traffic stop ended with dangerous drugs and weapons taken off our streets."

The Cleveland County Sheriff's Office said Evans admitted he is a convicted felon during his talk with deputies, making the situation more serious. He was arrested and taken to the Cleveland County Detention Center to face several charges.
