The 2025 Northern Pikeminnow Sport-Reward Fishery season has been extended to October 12 at selected locations on the Columbia and Snake rivers. Stations at Cathlamet, Ridgefield, Rainier, Washougal, The Dalles, Boyer Park, and Swallows Park will remain open during the extension, while other stations closed on Tuesday next week, according to the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife. Station hours and locations are listed online.
Participants earn $6 for the first 25 fish, $8 for fish 26 to 200, and $10 for each fish after that. Tagged fish can be worth up to $500. To qualify, northern pikeminnow must be at least nine inches, caught within program boundaries, and turned in on the same day, along with a valid fishing license.
Over 125,000 fish have been caught so far this season. The program, managed by the Bonneville Power Administration with partners including the Pacific States Marine Fisheries Commission and the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife, is part of efforts to reduce the impact of dams on fish populations in the Columbia River basin.
