On Sunday morning, Columbus Police Patrol officers responded to a reported shooting in the 700 block of Stelzer Road. When they arrived, they discovered two individuals with gunshot wounds. Columbus Fire Department Medics transported both victims to a nearby hospital.
Tragically, one of the wounded, identified as Mr. Rene Villanueva Soto, succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at 4:07 AM. The Columbus Division of Police release confirmed the victim's name, the time of the incident, and noted that the next of kin have been notified. The other shooting victim remains in stable condition and is expected to make a recovery.
Investigators are actively working the case, seeking information and evidence that could lead to the apprehension of the perpetrator.
