The Columbus Division of Police is calling on the community for assistance in identifying a suspect linked to an aggravated robbery on the east side of the city earlier last month. According to a social media post from the Columbus Division of Police, the incident occurred on August 2nd in a business located in the 2800 block of E. 5th Ave.
Reports state that the suspect was confronted by the store clerks, who recognized him from previous thefts. When they attempted to prevent him from entering the section where tobacco products were stored, the suspect shoved past them. He began to fill his backpack with goods, the value of which added up to an estimated $600. The situation escalated when a clerk grabbed the suspect's arm. He responded by brandishing a black handgun and threatening, "I will shoot you," leading the clerks to flee from the scene. The suspect then collected additional items before fleeing on foot, heading east down an alley.
Described as a black male between the ages of 20 and 25, around 5'9", and weighing approximately 160 lbs, he was last seen wearing a distinctive blue hoodie with red & white square artwork on the front, black pants, and white Nike tennis shoes with a red swoosh. His face was obscured by a black mask adorned with a white Nike swoosh on the left side. He also carried a black or dark blue backpack featuring a white Adidas logo, and he completed his appearance with a black handgun.
