After eight long years on the lam, fugitive and convicted sex offender David Anthony Jaramillo has been caught. According to a social media post by the Arapahoe County Sheriff's Office, the FBI Rocky Mountain Safe Streets Task Force nabbed the 38-year-old in Leon, Mexico, in the State of Guanajuato on August 23.
The apprehension was no small feat; it unfolded over three months of intensive teamwork spearheaded by an FBI agent who reinvigorated the cold case. This relentless pursuit was underscored by cohesive inter-agency cooperation, which included the Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office Task Force Officer. Following his capture, Jaramillo was swiftly extradited from Mexico, arriving first in Harris County, Texas, on August 24, and then transported to Denver by the Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office extradition team on September 8 to stand trial for his past transgressions.
Currently, Jaramillo is remanded at the Arapahoe County Detention Facility, facing the music for charges that were sidestepped years prior. Back in 2017, Jaramillo skipped bail and vanished, leading to an extended manhunt that stretched across international borders and involved multiple law enforcement agencies; among them, the 18th Judicial District Attorney's Office - Colorado, Aurora Police Department, and Arvada Police Department, Colorado.
