A Corvallis man is in custody after a violent incident involving a katana and an assault on his girlfriend, local authorities have confirmed. On Saturday, police were called to a residence on NW 23rd St. responding to an assault report, where they discovered that 29-year-old Seth Amos Grace had seriously injured another person's leg with a katana, as reported by KOIN.
Earlier that evening, during a trip to get more alcohol, Grace reportedly punched his girlfriend, Nicole Buck, in the face, breaking her nose, as noted by KPTV. The attack escalated after Grace and the two victims, including his girlfriend Buck and the other victim identified as Simone-Ballantyne, had been drinking at Grace's home officials learned that an argument had sparked the violent reaction from Grace, who used the katana to commit the assault and resulting in serious injury, Buck was treated for her injuries at the scene while Simone-Ballantyne required hospitalization.
Grace has been booked into the Benton County Jail on several charges, including first-degree attempted assault, second-degree assault, unlawful use of a weapon, and fourth-degree assault. As the affected individuals receive medical attention, the Corvallis PD has reached out to the community for additional information and urges witnesses to contact Detective Derrick Samuels, as detailed by KATU, which states: “Anyone who may have information or witnessed the events is encouraged to contact Detective Derrick Samuels at 541-766-6924."
