The community in the District of Columbia is gearing up for the Congress Heights Day Parade set for Saturday, September 13, 2025. Parade-goers and residents should expect significant parking restrictions and street closures, as confirmed by a release from the Metropolitan Police Department. Motorists will need to steer clear of certain areas; particularly, there will be an Emergency No Parking directive in effect from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on various streets throughout Southeast D.C.
Specifically, the Emergency No Parking zones will include 4th Street from Mississippi Avenue to Martin Luther King, Jr. Avenue, SE, along with stretches of Martin Luther King, Jr. Avenue, Alabama Avenue, and Oak Drive. For those planning to use these roads on parade day, alternate routes should be considered, according to the official MPDC advisory.
In addition to the parking restrictions, vehicle traffic will be barred from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on the aforementioned roads. This closure is designed to ensure the safety and smooth operation of the parade. Local authorities have taken steps to minimize the impact on residents, permitting access to several streets for residential or local traffic only; these include portions of 5th Street, 6th Street, and several other roads within close proximity of the parade route.
