According to the Dallas Police Department, they had just lost their housing and were in dire need of assistance.
Upon interaction, the officers swiftly realized the intensity of the family's predicament. Their approach went beyond the call of duty; not only did they engage with the family, but they also worked diligently to connect them with essential services. The city's Office of Emergency Management and Crisis Response was contacted, which in turn, worked closely with Family Gateway. "Then an officer asked if they had eaten," recounted the Dallas Police Department, "and the mom quietly explained their last meal was the day before, and she didn’t have enough money for food that day."
