The National Weather Service in Denver is forecasting a day of mostly sunny skies with temperatures poised to reach a high near 89 degrees. According to the National Weather Service, conditions in the Mile High City include a light and variable wind that is anticipated to shift northeast, ranging from 5 to 9 mph by the afternoon.
The evening hours, however, are likely to see a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms before 1 am, then a chance of showers after 3 am, with widespread smoke expected between 9 pm and 3 am. A mostly cloudy night sky accompanies a low of around 54 degrees. With north northeast winds blowing at 7 to 14 mph, and wind gusts that could reach as high as 22 mph, there is a minimal 20% chance of precipitation.
Looking ahead to Friday, the NWS predicts a 30% chance of showers accompanied by possible thunderstorms after 3 pm. The forecast calls for partly sunny conditions with a high near 73 degrees and light east northeast winds of 3 to 7 mph.
The weekend weather appears to be mostly sunny, with high temperatures gradually climbing from the mid-70s on Saturday to the mid-80s by Monday. Residents can expect calm conditions overnight with temperatures steadily hovering around the mid-50s. As reported by the National Weather Service, the outlook extends into mid-next week with mostly sunny days and a slight increase in daily highs.
In the hazardous weather outlook issued earlier by the NWS for northeast and north central Colorado, there is a mention of no immediate hazardous weather for the current day and night. However, elevated fire weather conditions are expected to develop across the plains on Thursday due to the combination of warm temperatures, dry air, and brisk winds. "Spotter activation will not be needed today or tonight," reassures the outlook, indicating that no severe weather incidents are anticipated imminently.
