On September 20, Detroit will host fall events with music, food, and community activities. At Passage to WellBeing, between Manistique and Phillip streets and Korte and Scripps streets, events start at 3 p.m. Performances include local rap artist Big Herk and blues singer Thornetta Davis, with appearances by Angela Davis and Rita Renee. Attendees should bring a chair or blanket for the free concert, according to the City of Detroit.
Passage to WellBeing’s Ms. Tammy Black will perform her new song, "I Am Light." She told the City of Detroit, "Music is such a powerful tool for mental health: it helps reduce stress, uplift the spirit, restore balance and connect us with one another."
The "Boots On The Ground" fundraiser at Burrell Trail Alley, 7701 Harper Avenue, will support Alkebu-Lan Village with dinner and dancing starting at 6 p.m. Guests are encouraged to wear western attire. Tickets and information are available at 313-921-1616. The event is part of Detroit’s $5.4 million Arts Alley initiative under Mayor Mike Duggan’s Blight to Beauty campaign, led by Detroit ACE to promote local arts and culture, as reported by the City of Detroit.
