Commuters along County Line Road can expect major changes as construction kicks off for a large-scale widening and reconstruction project in Douglas County. In collaboration with several local entities, including the City of Centennial, City of Littleton, Highlands Ranch Metro District, and construction firms JHL and Benesch, the project aims to address the needs of an increasingly busy corridor used by an average of 25,000 road users each day.
The plans for the project include the addition of an extra travel lane in each direction, transforming County Line Road from a two-lane road to a four-lane thoroughfare. As per Douglas County, a new traffic signal is scheduled for installation at the Clarkson Street and County Line Road intersection, alongside a repaving effort within the City of Littleton. For pedestrians, new sidewalks are slated to be constructed, enhancing the safety and mobility for those on foot.
"This road is more than a line on a map. It is a shared lifeline that carries families to schools, connects workers to jobs, and supports businesses that drive our economy," emphasized Commissioner Abe Laydon, as obtained by Douglas County. Indeed, the road's significance extends to emergency services, providing a critical route for first responders.
