Last Friday afternoon, an alarming incident unfolded in Glen Burnie when an adult male driver found himself the target of an armed robbery. According to the Anne Arundel County press release, the man was navigating his Toyota Camry along Aquahart Road near Phylen Court at around 4:30 p.m. when two male assailants, one wielding a knife and the other armed with a screwdriver, ambushed him.
The victim, in an instinctual response to the apparent danger, vacated his vehicle and attempted to escape on foot; however, the suspects pursued and, during the pursuit, managed to both physically assault him and abscond with his wallet and money, essential pieces of his everyday life that he, likely, seldom worried he might lose to the violent whims of strangers, left in the aftermath with not just the bruises of the encounter, but the mark of vulnerability imprinted deep. Further compounding the victim's misfortune, upon the suspects' hasty departure, it was discovered that the victim's vehicle, too, had vanished from the scene.
The incident has prompted an active investigation by Northern District detectives who are seeking tips from the public. The suspects' descriptions remain vague: one of unspecified race brandishing a knife, and another, also of unknown race, described as heavyset and wielding a screwdriver.
