In the early hours of this morning, a crash involving a semi-truck and another vehicle led to a DUII arrest and significant traffic disruption on I-205 in Portland. The Portland Police Bureau's East Precinct officers arrived at the scene near Southeast Powell Boulevard after receiving reports of an overturned semi in the southbound lanes.
Investigations into the accident, which occurred roughly around 2:30 a.m., revealed that the semi-truck was struck by a vehicle driven by 25-year-old John C. Lee Jr, who is suspected of driving under the influence of intoxicants (DUII). The collision caused the semi to lose control and overturn, although the driver of the semi was not injured in the ordeal. The other driver, Mr. Lee, was taken to the hospital as a precaution before being booked into Multnomah County Detention Center on multiple charges.
According to the official police statement, John C. Lee Jr. is now facing charges for DUII, Reckless Driving, and Criminal Mischief in the First Degree. The southbound traffic on the interstate suffered heavy delays as multiple lanes were closed for several hours during the crash investigation and the subsequent clear-up operations, according to the City of Portland.
