A Durham man is facing a first-degree murder charge following a police standoff that culminated in officers discovering a woman's body. The suspect, identified as 31-year-old Christopher Brian Whitley, eventually relinquished himself to authorities after barricading himself inside a Laurel Springs Drive apartment. The Durham Police Department found 34-year-old Auriel Lowe deceased on the scene.
According to the News & Observer, police responded to the incident at approximately 12:32 p.m. yesterday. After surrounding the apartment, officers made contact with Whitley, who surrendered without further incident.
