El Paso, Texas, finds itself revisiting a familiar name in police logs this week as 56-year-old David Adrian Gandara was arrested once again for driving while intoxicated (DWI). According to a social media post from El Paso County Sheriff Oscar Ugarte, Gandara's latest encounter with law enforcement occurred on September 12, after deputies observed his vehicle weaving between lanes at the 5500 block of Doniphan.
The traffic stop quickly escalated from a routine matter to the discovery that Gandara exhibited signs of intoxication. Despite attempts to follow protocol, he failed the standard field sobriety tests, and deputies had no choice but to place him under arrest. It was then discovered, through a warrant check, that Gandara was already sought after for a previous DWI offense, his third or more, which carried a no-bond warrant.
In the same vein of legal woes, Gandara's arrest record for similar offenses dates back to 2012, with this incident marking his seventh arrest for DWI in El Paso County, as per the sheriff's office. In light of his history, Gandara was booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility with a new bond set at $5,000 for the latest DWI charge, adding to the existing troubles of the no-bond warrant.
