El Paso authorities are currently probing a shooting incident involving a teenage suspect and five juvenile victims at an apartment complex on Montana Avenue, where tensions escalated into violence last week, as reported by the El Paso Police Department. On Monday evening, a confrontation among a group of teenagers at 10700 Montana spiraled out of control, leading to gunfire that injured five people.
The situation began when the group arrived at the complex, supposedly to settle a dispute, and as they moved towards a playground, a 15-year-old male extracted a gun and discharged it into the crowd, striking the victims. In the immediate aftermath of the shooting the young assailant attempted to evade law enforcement on foot but was soon apprehended by officers in the vicinity of the crime scene, his freedom was short-lived, and he now faces multiple charges including four counts of aggravated assault, he has been referred to the Juvenile Probation Department (JPD) as per the standard protocol for juvenile offenders.
As the investigation continues, the Crimes Against Persons unit, working in conjunction with the JPD, is seeking assistance from the El Paso community to piece together the events that led to this violent episode.
