Earlier today, a car accident in Houston's 3100 block of Bay Street claimed the life of a 76-year-old woman. Houston police are currently investigating the incident that unfolded at approximately 3:20 a.m. The identity of the victim is yet to be confirmed and is pending a report from the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
A maroon Ford Explorer was reported to have been moving eastbound before the crash. According to the City of Houston, the driver of the Explorer apparently failed to properly maintain their lane, which led them to abruptly drive across a front yard and collide with the front of a house.
The HPD Vehicular Crimes Division, with Sergeant L. Ross and Officer L. Ho on the scene, indicated that the woman driving the Ford was quickly transported to a nearby hospital. She was declared dead upon arrival by the attending medical professionals. The collision did not result in any other reported injuries.
The Houston Police Department's ongoing investigation is set to thoroughly examine all contributing factors of the crash. No further information has been disclosed at this juncture.
