A 68-year-old man from Elkton died early morning yesterday in a crash on State Road 207 in St. Johns County. The Florida Highway Patrol said the man was attempting to cross SR-207 from Armstrong Road when his pickup truck entered the path of a southbound SUV, resulting in a fatal collision. First Coast News reported the man was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from his vehicle, dying at the scene.
The SUV driver, a 47-year-old woman from St. Augustine, sustained minor injuries and was taken to a local hospital, according to authorities. News4Jax reported the crash occurred when the pickup truck continued into the path of the SUV, striking it on the front left.
Action News Jax stated the man was driving eastbound to continue onto Don Manuel Road when the incident occurred. The names of those involved have not been released by the Florida Highway Patrol.
