The Wilkinsburg Police Department has issued an alert to the public about 40-year-old Davon Xavier Brown, who is wanted for a string of burglaries in the area and who recently escaped from UPMC Shadyside Hospital. The suspect, who was arrested this past Friday, managed to leave the hospital the following day without the staff alerting the police. WPXI reported that Brown was taken to the hospital following a suspected drug overdose while in police custody, awaiting transfer to the Allegheny County Jail.

According to information provided by WTAE, the escape was discovered following a routine check on when Brown would be discharged to arrange for police transportation. The escaped suspect also faces unrelated theft charges in Wilkins Township and North Versailles.

Brown is described as a bald male, 6 feet tall, weighing approximately 230 pounds. His last seen attire included a dark-colored shirt, black and white sweatpants, and white tennis shoes. Police are urging anyone with knowledge of his whereabouts to contact them immediately.
