The Lewisville Lake Environmental Learning Area (LLELA) gears up for its Open House, slated for Saturday, October 11, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. This free event, open to the public, is a perfect blend of education and recreation, set against the backdrop of one of Lewisville's cherished natural spaces. If you've been itching to reconnect with nature, mark your calendar for a day that promises to be filled with activities for the whole family.
The activities will include the Mariposas celebration that aims to educate attendees on butterflies and their critical habitats. Those eager to get directly involved can look forward to interactive exhibits designed to foster a deeper appreciation for these winged inhabitants. In an effort to truly get in touch with nature, guests can participate in nature walks, where the opportunity to notably explore the stunning variety of local plant and animal life awaits them. According to the City of Lewisville, the Open House also features hands-on camping demonstrations, inviting nature enthusiasts to learn and practice essential outdoor skills.
For those drawn to aquatic adventures, LLELA is setting up opportunities to discover fishing along the river. Whether you're a novice or a seasoned angler, you'll have the chance to try and catch indigenous fish species. Aside from the natural attractions, the Open House will also spotlight the historic Minor-Porter Log House. Visitors can step back in time to learn about life in the 1870s from this beautifully preserved pioneer homestead.
