The Autumn Black Neighborhood Walking Tour offers visitors a look at Raleigh’s historic Third Ward, highlighting its role in the city’s and the African American community’s history. The neighborhood, home to Shaw University, has long been a center of culture, business, and education.
As per the City of Raleigh release, starting September 20, the tours will run every weekend through December 21, with time slots at 10 a.m., 1 p.m., and 3 p.m. on Saturdays and at 2 p.m. on Sundays. Registration is required for participation.
The tour includes a visit to the Pope House Museum, which preserves the legacy of Dr. Manassa Thomas Pope, an important figure in Raleigh’s African American history. Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for children ages 5–17.
