The Oregon Department of Human Services has extended the deadline for residents of Deschutes and Jefferson counties to report food losses from the Flat Fire. Instead of the usual 10 days, people in these counties now have until September 22, to request replacement Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program benefits, according to the Oregon Department of Human Services.
Food loss claims are usually required within 10 days. Because of the Flat Fire that began on August 21, residents of Deschutes and Jefferson counties have been given extra time to file. Residents in other counties affected by the disaster must still follow the 10-day deadline and complete the standard verification process, as reported by the Oregon Department of Human Services.
Applications can be made by calling 1-800-699-9075 or 711 (TTY), visiting a local office, emailing [email protected], mailing the ONE Customer Service Center at PO Box 14015, Salem, OR 97309, or filing online through a ONE Online account. Information needed for the application is listed on Oregon Department of Human Services form 349D. After September 22, the regular 10-day reporting rule will apply.
