This morning, Fairfield police apprehended a man after he allegedly set a fire near a local hotel, causing evacuations, but fortunately, no damage to the property. At approximately 2:06 a.m., officers rushed to the scene on the 2100 block of North Texas Street, the Fairfield, CA Police Department reported on social media.

The blaze started with a fence fire and was perilously close to reaching the hotel building before the police intervened, and the fire did not harm the structure. Surveying the footage, authorities got a description of a male suspect, which was immediately distributed. In a stroke of proximity, and perhaps, fate, Officer Cuevas located the suspect nearby.

Police identified the suspect as 42-year-old Joshua Bell, who was found not far from the site of the initial blaze. Bell has been charged with the fire's inception and is now behind bars at the County Jail.
