A Farmington Hills man is facing federal charges for child pornography production and other offenses tied to an extremist group. Justin Miller, 23, has been implicated in the digital inner workings of what the authorities have termed a Nihilistic Violent Extremist (NVE) group; a collective defined by its disdain for societal structures and pursuit of societal collapse through the fomentation of discord and instability, as per the U.S. Attorney's Office.
Miller's charges include possession and production of child pornography, coercion, and enticement of a minor, and interstate transmission of extortionate threats as U.S. Attorney Jerome F. Gorgon Jr. described these transgressions as "sick and twisted," noting the abhorrent exploitation of society's most vulnerable members to orchestrate chaos, with Reuben Coleman, the FBI's acting special agent in charge of the Detroit Field Office, expressing the FBI's resolute commitment in safeguarding children from violence and exploitation while thanking the investigative personnel dedicated to this harrowing case.
The allegations also include the suspect's administration of an online platform promoting self-harm, where he is reported to have encouraged individuals to inscribe his screen name onto their skin, the activity known as "cutsigns," per the criminal complaint lodged against him; additionally, Miller stands accused of grooming underage girls for the production and distribution of sexually explicit material.
"The federal charges announced today against Justin Miller reaffirm the FBI’s unrelenting commitment to protecting children from exploitation," said Reuben Coleman in an emphasis on emphasizing the well-being of children and promising cooperation between the FBI and the U.S. Attorney’s Office as the case progresses. The investigation spearheaded by the FBI will be prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Erin Ramamurthy, with an emphasis on the established legal principle that a criminal complaint is an allegation with the burden of proof resting on the government to establish guilt beyond a reasonable doubt, as per the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
