Yesterday, the California Highway Patrol Santa Rosa units were dispatched to the scene of a devastating crash on SR-1, just north of Valley Ford Road. According to a social media post by CHP Santa Rosa, the incident occurred around 2:01 PM and involved a motorcyclist, a minivan, and another vehicle.

The initial investigation indicated that the motorcyclist, heading south, veered over the double yellow lines in a precarious attempt to outstrip slower traffic, only to collide head-on with a minivan traveling in the opposite direction. The motorcyclist was ejected from their bike and subsequently struck by an additional vehicle, leading to fatal injuries and a swift pronouncement of death at the scene. On the other hand, the minivan's driver, amidst the chaos, was discovered to have been under the influence and, after being airlifted to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital for major injuries, was arrested.

The CHP Santa Rosa has reached out to the public for assistance, soliciting anyone with information about the crash to contact its office at (707)806-5600.
