A high-speed chase involving a motorcyclist and law enforcement in Citrus Heights came to a tragic end this week. The incident, which began around 8:22 p.m. last night, saw a 28-year-old motorcyclist attempt to quickly flee after being signaled to stop for vehicle code violations near Antelope Road and Wonder Street. According to a report from ABC10, the pursuit escalated as the motorcyclist began to evade capture by speeding, disregarding traffic signals, and even turning off his headlights.
Police officers persisted in their attempts to safely stop the motorcyclist, which led to assistance from a Sacramento Police Department helicopter. Despite the additional air support, the chase culminated in a violent collision. The motorcyclist crashed into another vehicle at the intersection of Antelope Road and Mariposa Avenue and was unexpectedly ejected from his bike, as detailed by a FOX40 report.
The aftermath of the crash was dire. First responders administered life-saving measures on scene, but their efforts proved to be futile. The 28-year-old man was ultimately pronounced dead.
