
An early Saturday hit-and-run on SR-99 to the Spokane Street off-ramp resulted in the death of a 66-year-old man. The Seattle Department of Transportation (SDOT) was alerted to reports of an object on the off-ramp, and upon inspection by the Seattle Response Team (SRT), it was discovered that the object was an unresponsive man, according to SPD Blotter.
Following the dispatch, SDOT immediately called for police and Seattle Fire Department (SFD) medics. The man was found before 4 a.m. with a significant head injury, and, SFD medics pronounced him dead at the scene. The area was soon secured by police who organized the investigation to be led by detectives from the Traffic Collision Investigation Squad (TCIS).
After an early investigation, TCIS detectives concluded that the victim had been struck by a vehicle. Their efforts soon led to locating a vehicle in the vicinity that showed signs of front end damage, which culminated in the arrest of a 53-year-old man in connection with the incident. Police are actively working on the case and seeking additional information.
